Playgroup
For children from 18 months to three years, and their parents.
The Playgroup environment is created to meet the needs of the very young child, while supporting families to connect and build community. It is a place where the children can learn about the world through their senses and by physically ‘doing’.
The children’s soul forces are nurtured through warmth, rhythm and a respectful atmosphere; a safe environment is created for the children, by adults engaged in meaningful activity, worthy of the child’s imitation.
LEARN WITH US
Preschool
For children from three to five years old.
At Little Shearwater Preschool, we create a warm, family-like environment, supporting each child to develop with confidence, and to make the bridge between home and school life a secure and happy experience.
This active, imaginative and imitative stage of childhood is nourished by a program that values the importance of self-directed play, artistic work, morning circles, storytelling and household activities—learning from life, for life.
Our daily rhythms include time for individual and group expression, as well as fostering an appreciation for the wonderful world of nature and the celebration of the seasons and special occasions.

Kindergarten
For children turning six during the calendar year.
Our Kindergarten provides a warm, loving environment in which children can thrive. The Kindergarten day consists of a rhythmical flow of artistic, social, domestic and physical activities including: painting, drawing, modelling, play-acting, puppetry, music, singing, stories, poems, games, handcrafts, woodwork, cooking, gardening and creative free play.
It is through experiencing the hands-on ‘doing’ activities in Kindergarten, that the seeds for Primary School, and the commencement of formal ‘academic’ learning, are sown.
