WORK AT SHEARWATER
Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, 3.5 km from Mullumbimby, and a short drive from some of the most beautiful coastline in NSW. Established in 1993, Shearwater has grown to a double streamed Kindergarten to Year 12 school, with an enrolment of over 600, an Early Learning Centre (including Playgroups and a Preschool) and a Trade Skills Centre. Our beautiful 52 acre site is bordered by a creek and rainforest, gardens and our biodynamic farm. Shearwater offers staff education and a mentoring program, ongoing professional learning opportunities, workshops, events and courses.

Shearwater is currently seeking an experienced and dynamic Primary Steiner Class Teacher to commence with either Class 1 or Class 4 in Term 1 2024, and to join them as they continue their Primary School journey through to Class 7. (Please indicate which Class you would prefer within your application).
Shearwater teachers provide an exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience for all students. You will be joining a collective of teachers dedicated to providing an imaginative and holistic approach to teaching and learning based on Steiner’s pedagogical insights, within a dynamic and progressive Steiner educational environment.
The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to Steiner education, with demonstrated experience as a Class Teacher in a Steiner primary school, and hold relevant teaching qualifications for eligibility for accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority.
Suitable candidates will be creative, adaptable and nurturing and have a sound understanding of the principles, practices, and theory of Steiner education. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals with the willingness to participate in all aspects of the Shearwater community, including co-curricular activities such as festivals, open days, and camps.

Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is currently seeking expressions of interest for experienced High School teachers for casual relief roles in a variety of KLAs.
You would be joining a collective of teachers dedicated to providing an imaginative approach to teaching and learning based on Steiner’s pedagogical insights, within a dynamic and progressive Steiner educational environment.
Ideal candidates will be suitably qualified to provide relief for the following classes:
- Science (Chemistry and Physics), Years 11 and 12
- Maths, Years 8 – 12
- TAS (textiles, food technology, metal and woodwork)
Candidates must hold relevant teaching qualifications and experience and a NESA accreditation. While Steiner experience or qualifications are not essential, a willingness to learn is required. Suitable candidates will be inspired by Steiner education and dedicated to continuous improvement and reflective practices. Support and guidance will be provided to successful candidates without a Steiner background.
